Moss Removal

Moss on my Roof–how bad can it be?

Moss thrives in shady, cool, humid environments. Houses live in shady, cool, humid environments, and shingles and other roof materials have substances such as limestone, that moss loves to eat. Hence, they are a perfect match for each other.

Moss, lichen, and other organic materials live very happily on roofs, rent-free as parasites, sending their roots into the surface, eating any wood, creating an unstable structure. Removing moss and other organic materials is a job best left to professionals. Do you want to spend your free time in a dangerous position up on a ladder, or on top of the roof? What if there’s a bee’s nest, or a hornet’s or ant’s nest? Would you want to stir them up? What if the wind changes and threatens to blow you off?

Cleaning your roof is an investment in your financial future. Many people believe that they need a new roof, from its ugly appearance, but in fact all they need is a clean roof. Prevent the deterioration caused by organic growth. Having a clean and stable roof is far preferable to having a new roof unnecessarily.
